What it does
Proof of Reserve provides cryptographic assurance that what is on-chain matches what is held off-chain. Using Chainlink Proof of Reserve, the module publishes attestations of reserves on-chain, and smart contracts can check that reserves are sufficient before allowing new tokens to be minted, so a token cannot be issued without demonstrable backing. It is central to credible stablecoins and tokenised assets.
Works with
How it works
Proof of Reserve draws on Data Oracles and, in turn, can gate the Tokenisation Engine so a token cannot be minted without verified backing. It also supports custody and stablecoin issuance with continuous reserve assurance.

1/3 · Reserves. The assets backing a token are held off-chain, with a custodian or qualified custodian.
Key capabilities
Real-time reserve attestation
Reserves are attested on-chain continuously, not in a periodic report.
Cryptographic verification
Anyone can check that on-chain supply is matched by off-chain backing.
Qualified-custodian integration
Attestations draw on the custodians that actually hold the reserves.
Mint-with-proof controls
Contracts refuse to mint beyond verified reserves.
